Cardiac surgery
Sir, — I am continually surprised at the number of adult open-heart surgery patients in Greenlane Hospital, Auckland. I am a regis-
tered nurse and have recently completed approximately six months nursing in the cardiac surgical unit in Dunedin Public Hospital. I am at present undertaking a cardiac surgery course in Greenlane. In Dunedin . the unit is fully equipped but is never fully used. Despite this, Christchurch patients are still being put on the long-term waiting list for Greenlane Hospital. In my experience, the medical and nursing care in both hospitals is of equal standard. Surely in the best interests of the patients and relatives, Dunedin would be the obvious choice. —Yours, etc., MISS J. TANNER, Greenlane. April 16, 1979.
