Mr Doug Cotton, a Christ-1 church businessman, holds a lively interest these days in the top ranking Australian three-year-old, Dulcify. Mr Cotton owns Cotton Candy, a four-year-old sister of this season’s V.R.C. and and A.J.C. Derby winner. He bought Cotton Candy for’ $9OOO as a yearling, and • raced her in partnership with Mr Barry Lusty, of • Auckland. Trained at Takanini by; Ray Wallace, Cotton Candy won four races at two years■ and two races at three' years. She ran third behind Orchidra and Braless in the
iNew Zealand thoroughbred I Breeders' Stakes. • She was operated on for J bone chips in a knee last (year, came back promisingly i with a second placing fresh lup in December, but has had ila recurrence of knee trouble ;and will be mated next season, probably with Sover- ■ ieign Edition. •; Sweet Candy, dam of Dul•cify and Cotton Candy, was J sired by Todman from Risjque by Wilkes from Pique Iby Summertime from Sweet ■ Nymph, the best three-year-|old of her year and a sister ;fof the greatly talented Sweet Spray. This is also the famllily of the Melbourne Cup ■ Winner, Gold and Black.
