Thirteenth first-leg success

The Riccarton jockey, Michael Mein, added to a formidable tally of firstleg winners when successful on Mr Ay Bee in the George Adams Handicap yesterday. Mein has now ridden the winners of 13 main races this season, including four on the Wingatui stayer, Mr Ay Bee, on which he has now had six rides for six wins. Other first-leg winners have been Mellseur (three times), Miles Better (three times) and Lady Belinda, Tiva and Kingswood.
