Woman survives fall

PA Dunedin A woman climber who fell more than 15m on Mount Aspiring on Saturday escaped with only minor injuries. Linda Marie Russ, of Dunedin, was climbing with two companions on the Shark’s Tooth in the Matukituki Valley when the accident occurred, according to Senior-Ser-

geant J. W. Morrow, of the Alexandra police. The climbers were on a scree slope about 10 a.m, when Miss Russ lost her footing in ice and fell between 15m and 30m, Senior-Sergeant Morrow said last evening. A helicopter picked her up and she was taken to the Cromwell Hospital suffering from a cut above the eye and concussion.
