Roxburgh Delbert stays in favour

Special correspondent Dunedin | Delbert was not disgraced! when second at Forburj Park! lon Saturday night and he re-1 I mains in favour for the Centra! I Otago Stakes, second leg of Ithe Roxburgh Trotting Clubs I TAB. double at Roxburgh to-; ' day. Delbert was not asked for a' ! serious effort until after the; ,40Oni on Saturday night after' I racing in the middle of the! field, and he closed a four-length! I deficit to run Loyal Wave to a] !neck. Delbert is off 10m today, but! ■ most of his rivals are maidens land he should prove superior. | ! Aventureux, which finished j I second to Frosty Lobell at Add ! ington two starts back, and Stop! the Clock, which faded to fourth after paccmaking on Satlurday night, seeni the most! ■ likely of Delbert's rivals. I In Charge earned a following for the Roxburgh Handicap, first leg of the Roxburgh Trotting Club's double after finishing a close second at Forburv Park on Saturday night. In Charge went under by half | a length to Klngsdown Cavalier after attempting to lead all the way over 2700 m. He is well situated to adopt front running tactics again today and could prove hard to peg back on the 1000 m circuit. Patinoir deserves favouritism for today’s race after wins in four of his six starts, including a last start success in the Wyndham Cup on March 7. He ran the 3200 m on that occasion in 4min 18.7 sec, and won by a length and a quarter from Ben Rodden after leading all the way. ■

Ben Rodden, which finished third on Saturday night, three lengths and a half from In Charge, meets Patinoir on 10m better terms than at Wyndham. Ben Rodden has been sparingly raced and might show improvement with his Forburv Park race. Selections:—
