Sinclair first in Mt Cook run
Timaru reporter Alan Sinclair (Ashburton Harrier Club) won the annual 4.Bkm mini-marathon at Mount Cook on Saturday in perfect conditions t in 17min 225. A. Dellow (Timaru) was second 38s later, and W. A. Hood (Chertsey) third in 19min Ils. The first woman home among the 53 competitors was Penny Andrews (Christchurch) in 23min 2s, followed by Lisa Shannon
(Mount Cook Village) and Sue Trethewey (Christi church). The winner’s time equalled : that set by last year’s wini ner, Noel Mathews (Kurow) i and was only 16s short of ; the record of 17min 6s, set . by J. Sweeney in 1977. Robert Dellow aged 12, was the first child to finish ■ the event, recording 22min 30s. S. Forbes aged eight, (Twizel) was second and Fiona Dellow, aged 10, (Timaru) third.
