‘Wilde Alliance’
John Stride plays Rupert in Television .One’s Monday night series “Wilde Alliance.” He was born in London and trained at RADA. After two years National Service in the Royal Artillery, his first professional job was at the Liverpool Playhouse. Two years later he joined the Old Vic Company and played in Franco Zeffirelli’s “Romeo And Juliet” which later won great acclaim on tour in America and Europe. John also worked at the National Theatre at the invitation of Sir LaurenceOlivier. He played a variety of roles from Audrey in the all-male production of “As You Like It,” to Cassio in "Othello,” Edwa’rd in Brecht’s “Edward II” and, most notably, as Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz And Guilderstren Are Dead.” John Stride’s fiilms include Polanski’s “Macbeth,” Dick Lester’s “Juggernaut,” “Brannigan” with John Wayne. "The Omen” and “Bridge Too Far.” His best-known television role is that of David Main in Yorkshire Television’s highly-successfu! series "The Main Chance.” Julia Foster, starring as Amy in the "Wilde Alliance,” comes to . this series with a whole host of credits to her name. Born in Lewes, Sussex, she began her acting career with the Brighton Repertory. She made her London debut at the Prince of Wales Theatre, in April 1965, as Tricia Elliot in “Travelling Light.”
She has appeared in top productions with people like Sir Ralph Richardson, Michael Holdern, Irene Worth and Deborah Kerr. Julia was nominated as Best Actress of the Year on the London Stage in 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973. Her film work includes “Term Of Trial,” “The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner,” “The Smail World Of Sammy Lee,” “Two Left Feet,” “The System, "Alfie” and, of course, “Half A Sixpence.” . Julia’s television appearances include “Mr Axelford’s Angel” and the Yorkshire Television series “Good Girl.”
