McAlpine below record profit
McAlpine Prestcold, Ltd, reports that unaudited group „ net trading profit for the half-year to January 31 fell 3.5 per cent to $402,000 after providing $92,000 more for tax at $348,000. Present indications are for a lower level of sales for some divisions during the second half of the year, and this combined with the removal of the five per cent stock adjustment allowance for tax purposes is likely to affect the final profit. The result for the full year will be satisfactory but will not equate the record performance achieved in 1978, the ' 1 directors say. The interim dividend of 7 per cent (3.5 c a share) is payable on May 25; ex-divi-dend on May 9.
