Too many doctors?
Sir, — It has been said that there are too many doctors in New Zealand. I find this unbelieveable because I had to wait for one hour and 45 minutes to have a chest X-ray taken. Within that time the waiting room was filled with eleven patients. It became quite obvious that the nursing staff Went flat out. There was no question of a reasonable consultation with the doctor in charge as I was allowed not longer than three minutes in his room. Looking back over more than 20 years, I discovered that this situation has not changed at all and went home very disappointed. We need more doctors in New Zealand, not fewer. — Yours etc., E. WEBSTER. April 9, 1979.
