Petone men redundant
PA Wellington About 26 persons will be made redundant later this year when the Petone sports goods manufacturing plant of Slazengers, Ltd, closes. The closing of the plant, which makes sports equipment such as golf clubs and racquet frames, results from a company decision to concentrate production at its Auckland factory. The general manager of the Petone plant (Mr R. Smith) said Slazengers had no alternative but to make staff redundant.
