Settlement near for drivers?
PA Wellington, A compromise offer by i the Drivers’ Federation could see a settlement today, of the claim by drivers ofi refrigerated trucks for an{ extra week of annual leave. I Drivers at Refrigerated s Freight Liners’ Tawa depot went back on strike on Monday in a move that was expected to “spread very rapidly throughout the country." “Our la-day stoppage finished at midnight on Sun-1 day,” said a Drivers’ Feder-{ ation spokesman, Mr R.l Campbell, yesterday. “However, drivers in the Wellington district went back out after they were told that their company would not meet them as promised. “But by 4 p.m. on Monday, they were back at work after the company promised to meet as originally planned. Meanwhile, we put a compromise offer to the employers which we hope will solve the problem.”
