University Vacancies THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions: — DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (Post 79/36) The University wishes to appoint a successor to the present Director who leaves in mid-1979. The Director is responsible to the Vice-Chancel-lor for a wide range of planning activities but with a special emphasis on resource development, including all aspects of overseas aid, both capital and recurrent. The post is one of the most senior administrative ones and the appointee should have extensive administrative and management experience at a high level, preferably in a University, though persons of different backgrounds will be considered. Knowledge of international development assistance agencies and their methods of operating will be an advantage. SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER IN EDUCATION (Post 79/37) A vacancy exists for the position of Senior/Lecturer in the School of Education. The appointee is expected to assume major responsibility in the teaching of Science/ Mathematics curriculum courses at the diploma and degree teacher education programmes of the School, and to assist with school experience supervision, i.e. student teaching. He or she will be expected to assist in other Education courses in one of the areas of the Foundations of Education. The applicant is expected to have relevant post-graduate qualifications in either Science or Mathematics education. Relevant qualifications In one of the areas of the Foundations of Education particularly in the sociology, philosophy, Or history of education will b e advantageous. Some relevant teaching experience in both secondary and tertiary settings will be an added asset. The successful candidate is expected to assume post by July, 1979. Salary in accordance with qualifications and experience in one of the following scales: Senior Lecturer: F 511,960 • F 514,135. Lecturer: F58175-F»11,563. In addition the University provides 15 p.c. gratuity, superannuation contribution, appointment allowance, partly furnished accommodation at a maximum rental at present of 12J p.c. of salary; this is under review. Appointments will be for a contract period of three years and will be renewable by mutual agreement.
