White excels in table tennis
Lyndon White (Christchurch Boys’ High School) scored a fine win in the final of the under 16 boys’ singles event at the Canterbury intermediate and secondary schools’ table tennis tournament yesterday.
White beat an A grade player, Michael Frisk, in an earlier match and accounted for the well-performed Paul Michael in the final.
The under 18 boys’ singles was won easily by a former Otago representative, Simeon Cairns (Christchurch 8.H.5.). Debbie Tipper (McKillop’s College) triumphed in the final of both the under 16 and under 18 girls’ singles. BOYS
Under 18 singles.—S. P. Cairns (Christchurch 8.H.5.) beat K. Townshend (Aranui), 21-10, 21-11. Doubles: M. Kelly (Xavier) and S. Dixon (Hagley) beat M. Prisk (Cashmere) and Cairns, 21-17, 21-16.
Under 16 singles.—L. White (Christchurch 8.H.5.) beat P. Michael (Christchurch 8.H.5.), 21-14, 21-12. Doubles: Prisk and R. Oakley (Cashmere) beat Kelly and White. 21-11, 21-16. Under 14 singles.—K. Kelly
