Strikes delay airmail

Industrial action by Australian postal workers in New South Wales is delaying airmail to and from Sydney, according to the Chief Postmaster at Christchurch (Mr E. A. G. Grandi). Mr Grandi said that airmail from Sydney had not been received since March 29. Dispatches to Sydney were being made as usual, but would not be delivered until the dispute was over. Airmail to and from other parts of Australia was subject only to minor delays. Strikes in Britain were also delaying mails to and from that country, and air-

mail was subject to severe delays on arrival there, he said. Outward mails were delayed to a lesser extent. Surface mails would also be affected, depending on how long the strikes continued.
