Arts Centre fair
The third annual Arts Centre fair will be held today in the north quadrangle of the Christchurch Arts Centre.
Seven local artistic and cultural groups — including four theatre groups, the Canterbury Potters, and the Southern Ballet — are organising and gathering the produce for the fair under the auspices of the Arts Centre. Eight groups took part last year and made about $4OOO, of which each group took its share. The fair will work on the same principle this year. The Arts Centre representative on the organising committee for the fair, Miss Valerie Harris, says there was every chance that this year’s fair would be
just as successful. Entertainment, beginning at 10 a.m., when the fair will open, and continuing at halfhourly intervals, will be provided by the various groups contributing to the fair, and it is hoped that a local band will lead off. Produce for sale will include clothing, plants, books, craftware, cakes, and “white elephants.” The comperes for the fair will be Stewart Ross and Neville Wakem, of 3ZB.
