Water scheme declined
A water-supply for homes at Lansdowne Valley has been declined on the grounds of cost by the Paparua County Council. Messrs W. R. Flanagan, M. B. Fraser, and D. R. Wilkie asked for the supply, but the County Manager (Mr A. Kelly) said that to extend the main from Halswell would cost about $lOO,OOO, and annual costs would be $lO,OOO. If the 24 properties involved paid the normal charge of $l5 each, income would be $360, and if the supply were classed as extraordinary and the full charge made, it would amount to $4OO for each property.
