Death after polo

WAIPUKURAU, Jan. 19
Tragedy marred the polo match between Wanstead and the touring Australian team at Wanstead, near Waipukurau, this afternoon. A player who had been selected as reserve for the New Zealand side died in hospital after collapsing in the match. He was
Michael Bellerby, aged 42,
married. Mr Bellerby suffered a knock in the first chukka, and was taken off the field, but returned for the second chukka. However, he collapsed soon afterwards.
Mr Bellerby had been playing polo for about 13 years. Australia won the match, 9-3.
