Greymouth Double Bon Coeur-Unreal
(Neio Zealand Pres* Association)
GREYMOUTH. The spring meeting of the Greymouth Trotting Club ended at Victoria Park Raceway on Saturday night. There was a cold, blustery westerly wind making conditions unpleasant. There was a large crowd and the track was firm and fast in spite of rain on Friday night and Saturday morning. Bon Coeur and Unreal, which were both second on the first night went one better and formed the winning T.A.B. double combination, which paid £67 17s 6d for £l. The on-course double. Braeburn and Bramlock, paid £26 5s for £l. King’s Guard won the Paparoa Handicap by a nose from Doctor Scott, but the placings were reversed after an inquiry. The stipendiary steward, Mr Armstrong said the placings were reversed because King’s Guard broke short of the line and galloped, thereby gaining a slight advantage. No action was taken against T. A. Moore, the owner-trainer-driver of King’s Guard, because he did his best to pull the horse out of a gallop. A warning was issued to the connexions of the three-year-old trotter, Bonny Lands, that the racing and barrier manners Of the filly must be improved. In her four starts at the meeting Bonny Lands left the barrier only once and in the Paparoa Handicap she swung round and knocked G. Holmes, the driver of the hot favourite. Oh Johnny, out of his sulky. Results:— TAINUI HANDICAP, £200: 2:20 class; 13f.—4/3 BRAEBURN (1) It D. G. Jones 1: 3/4 SEQUOIA (10) It T. H. Gleeson 2: 1/2 FLYING ANNETTE (3) It F. E. Newfield 3.
