Bad Smash At Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association! AUCKLAND. Three horses crashed through the running rail in a smash at: the end of about three-quarters of a furlong in the Electric: Stakes at Alexandra Park on i Saturday night. One of'. them. Single Forbes, was subsequently destroyed. Another. Lady Gentry, suffered j such severe injuries she probably will not race again. No drivers were hurt. A film of the race showed that Single Forbes broke without having suffered any interference. In spite of strenuous efforts by his driver to straighten him.’he veered toward the side rail Rustic Lord and Lady Gentry, which were inside him. had no chance of keeping clear of Single Forbes. Both Single Forbes and Lady Gentry suffered severe chest injuries.
