Temuka

Sir, —I wish to correct an impression that may have been conceived by the publication of a photograph in your paper on October 18. I refer to the photograph of Temuka. In fact the photograph shows only the business area and approximately a third of the residential area. What it does not show that is of vital importance to the town is the main trunk railway and the 143-acre domain. The latter includes gardens, motor camp (capable of accommodating 2000), golf links, tennis courts, bowling greens, and swimming pool. The people of Temuka are very proud of what their town offers in every respect to residents and holiday-makers alike. They are also confident that the future of the town is assured. There is plenty of room for expansion (residential and industrial) and when the new secondary school is built this town will have everything the average person desires. Next time, let us see a photograph that shows the full “picture.” —Yours, etc., M AURICE H. THELNING. Temuka, October 20, 1966.
