SELF-SERVICE IN HOTELS
Opposition By Union The innovation of selfservice in hotels would be fought by the union to the end, said the assistant national secretary of the New Zealand Hotel Workers* Union (Mr L. Short) in Christchurch yesterday. He was commenting on a scheme for the new Southern Cross Hotel in Dunedin. Under the scheme selected patrons will each be given a key to a bar, which will not be staffed. They will pay for their drinks at a small till in the bar. Mr Short will visit Dunedin today for talks with union representatives ancLthe directors of the hotel
