TINY BIBLE

A Christchurch woman, Mrs M. A. Forrester, owns a tiny Bible. Containing more than 800 pages and illustrated with black and white drawings, the Bible measures IJin by 1 l-Bin and is sin thick.

Mrs Forrester got in touch with “The Press” when she read of a New Testament of the same dimensions as her full Bible being on display in London.

Both books were printed by the Glasgow University Press for the former firm of David

Bryce and Son, Glasgow. The London book was published in 1895, and Mrs Forrester’s book, a year later. - A magnifying glass set in the cover is used to read the Bible although the larger print may be read without it. Mrs Forrester said that the Bible was given to her by her mother and she could remember it being in the family from her childhood. It had originally belonged to her grandmother. The photograph shows the small Bible compared with a box of matches.
