Salary for a Lecturer is within the range 4800 x 220 dollars--6340 dollars per annum, and for a Senior Lecturer within the range 6600 x 200-7600 dollars per annum. I 2921 THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA APPLICATIONS are Invited for the following appointments in the Department of Geography as from January 1, 1967. or as soon as possible thereafter: SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURERS IN HUMAN GEOGRAPHY There wiM be two vacancies In the field of Human Geography and although specialists in either Historical Geography, Agricultural Geography, Urban or Rural Geography would be preferred, applicants with interests in allied fields will be considered. The appointees will be required to undertake teaching and research, supervision at honours and post-graduate levels in Geography and to collaborate with work being done in the Faculties of Architecture and Economics and Commerce. DEMONSTRATOR IN GEOGRAPHY Candidates should possess an honours degree or its equivalent. The appointee will! be required to assist in the management of the Department's practical, tutorial and field work and the appointment is open to applicants whose interests lie in either Human or Physical Geography. Although not primarily a research appointment, the apopintee will be given every opportunity to conduct research towards a higher degree in his chosen field. The new Department of Geography occupies its own building on the campus and is fully equipped with teaching and research laboratories at all levels of instruction and has a wide range of equipment and excellent research potential. The Department has particular interests in advancing the field of Applied Geography. The current salary ranges are 8A6500/220/7600 p.a. for Senior Lecturer; SA4BOO/220/6340 p.a. tor Lecturer and BA3IOO/110/3540 for Demonstrator. Superannuation will be similar to F.S.S.U. in all cases.

Law, Oriental Studies and Science. A scholarship is awarded Initially for two years but normally will be extended for the whole period of the course, usually three years. The basic scholarship allowance is A 2330 dollars per annum tax free. Married scholars with dependent children are granted additional allowances of A7OO dollars per annum for the first child and A2OO dollars for each other child. For scholars with appropriate qualifications in medicine the basic allowance is A 3360 dollars per annum, but additional allowances are restricted to A 960 dollars per annum. Scholars are exempted from University fees. Fares to and from Canberra are paid. Assistance with housing is provided for most scholars.
