PROPELLER FAULT

Hercules On 3 Engines (N.Z. Press Association > DUNEDIN, July 21. A propeller failure delayed the departure of the R.N.Z.A.F. Cl3O Hercules aircraft from Momona yesterday. The aircraft returned to Auckland on three propellers.

The failure occurred in the outer starboard engine, when a hydraulic lead broke. Because of the loss of fluid in the system, the propeller could not be turned. It was decided not to wait for a fitter to be flown to Dunedin to repair the fault and the aircraft later took off with propeller feathered. The aircraft completed the flight to Auckland in good time on three engines.
