TROTTING Canterbury Park Club’ Shows £4612 Profit
A profit of £4612 is shown in the accounts to be presented at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club next Wednesday.
Last year the accounts showed a loss of £859. The three Christchurch trotting clubs have all recorded successful seasons. In all cases a profit of more than £4OOO has been returned.
The club held one day and four night meetings during the season and on and offcourse turn-overs were a record £945,000, says the report of the retiring president (Mr T. A. Leitch).
The report refers to the deaths during the year of almost 30 members. No elections will be necessary for positions on the executive of the club. Mr H.
F. Butland will be the new president, Mr E. F. Mercer the new vice-president and Mr I. J. Wilson will be reelected honorary treasurer. Messrs S. Andrews and F. W. Jarman will be re-elected to the committee. Stakes increased to £32,250 from £30.300 during the year and formed most of the club's expenditure. Other expenditure, with the figures for the previous year in parentheses, were:—Contribution to Addington Trotting Course, Ltd., £13,986 (£12,622); totalisator expenses, £Bll3 (£8221); race meeting expenses, £7796 (£7528); salaries, £2153 ■ (£2018): advertising, printing and stationery, £2084 (£1698): i Trotting Conference levies, 1£1544 (£1531). I Totalisator receipts amount-
'ed to £52,646 (£48,098) and provided most of the income' of the club. Gate receipts amounted to £6958 (£6956) and members’ subscriptions, rose to £4079 (£2886). Nomination and acceptance fees increased to £4527 (£4409). The profit on the sale of race! books rose to £1595 (£205) as' a result of the price increase, from Is to 2s a book. <
