(Pennsylvania). One of the longest tennis matches in history, including a 66-game first set, was played yesterday at the Pennsylvanian championships. V. Seixas, aged 43, who won the Wimbledon title in 1953, beat W. Bowrey, of Australia, 32-34, 6-4, 10-8, after 3hrs 45min play. The first set lasted 2Jhrs. Most record books list the longest singles match in history as the 100-game encounter between J. Drobney and B. Patty at Lyons, France, in February, 1955. These two players left this match, the final of a coveted courts event, unfinished after the scores reached 21-19, 8-10, 21-21.
The longest tennis match was a doubles in Los Angeles in May, 1949, which went to 135 games and lasted 4jhr. F. Schroeder and R. Falkenburg beat R. Gonzales and H. W. Stewart, 36-34, 3-6, 4-6, 64, 19-17.
