AN OMEN?

The four-man delegation which leaves today to press Christchurch’s claims to hold the 1970 Empire Games, has a special interest in the Rugby match between Canterbury and the Lions tomorrow.

One of its members, Mr A. I. Cottrell, played in the front row when Canterbury beat the Lions in 1930. Arrangements have been made for the result to be cabled to the delegation. A win for Canterbury will be regarded as a good omen for the delegation’s cause.
