Debating Team
A British universities debating team, Messrs J. M. Burford of Cambridge University (left), and K. W. Ovenden of Keele University, Staffordshire, will arrive in Wellington i on July H for an IMay tour of New Zealand universities. Their tour, under the auspices of the Common- ; wealth Relations Office, has ' been arranged with the New Zealand Universities Debat- I ing Council 1 The team will have seven debates with teams selected i by the debating societies of : the universities to bo visited. The final debate, agai t a representative New Zealand : universities team, will take pjyce at Massey University
as part of the universities* Arts Festival Programme in August It is also hoped to arrange with the Broadcasting Corporation for the British team to debate with a team of students on television. The itinerary is as follows: Dimedin, August 1-5, de- > bate with Otago University . Debating Society on August 2. Christchurch, August 4-5, 1 debate on August 4. Lincoln, ' August 5, debate on August ■5. Wellington, August 8-9, debate on August 8. Aucki land. August 10-12, debate lon August 10.
