Fault In Door Halts Bus
The Sumner-Riccarton bus due in Cathedral square at 7.48 a.m. yesterday was several minutes late because the rear door failed to close when the bus stopped in Ferry road near Barbadoes street Unsuccessful efforts were made to dose the doors manually and eventually a relief bus was called for. Many of the passengers continued to their destinations on foot Transport Board buses are fitted with a safety mechanism which prevents the accelator operating if the doors are still open.
