Man On Charge Of Escaping (N.Z. Pre»» Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 20. lan Rangitaniwha Peina, aged 25, and Owen Francis McCauley, aged 23, who pleaded guilty to a joint charge of escaping from the New Plymouth prison, today admitted convictions for previous escapes. They also appeared before Mr A. W. Yortt, S.M., on three joint charges of breaking and entering. Peina pleaded guilty and McCauley pleaded not guilty to each charge. Mr Yortt sentenced Peina to 12 months’ imprisonment on the escape charge and to two months* imprisonment on each burglary charge, to be served cumulatively. McCauley was sentenced to 15 months* imprisonment on the charge of escaping, to be served cumulatively with his present sentence. He was remanded to Monday on the other charges.
