Fight For McGlinchy

Efforts are to be made to match F. McGlinchy (Christchurch) and B. Cummings (Westport) over six twominute rounds as a “boost" to the Canterbury amateur boxing championships to be held on August 11. Mr T. Wildes told the Canterbury Boxing Association executive last evening that both McGlinchy and Cummings were considering turning professional and both wanted a six-round bout. Mr Wildes said that if McGlinchy decided to remain amateur, the association (could send him to the (national amateur champion- | ships at Rotorua. Both the | light-weight title winner at (the Canterbury championships and McGlinchey could be sent to the national championships if the association wished to do this. The Canterbury championships will be held in the Civic Theatre.
