Four Wins To Christchurch
Christchurch won four snd drew another of the alx eporta held on the first day of the annua! Teachers' College tournament against Dunedin at Christchurch yesterday. Dunedin’s only success was In the cross-country. Canterbury won the men’s and women's Indoor basketball, the badminton and the table tennis and the women's hockey ended In a 3-2 draw. In the cross-country Dunedin filled the first three places, with B. Beath covering the 4 1-3 mile course In 23mln S3.(see. R. Stephenson was second and R Clayton was third, ahead of the first Christchurch runner, A. Barker. Dunedin won the event, 11Christchurch led, 19-14, at half-time in the women's Indoor basketball and hung on grimly to win, 37-3(1. The top scorers for each team were E. Murray (Dunedin, 21> and S. Black (Christchurch. 10). The men's Indoor basketbsll was won by Christchurch. 32-39 Christchurch's 2-0 halftime lead In the women's hockev was nullified by Dunedin In the second halt. For Christchurch. E. Nevil and J. Snow scored goals, and L. MeKlnnell and M. Breen replied for Dunedin. Christchurch won the table tennis. 20-4 (men 11-1 and women 9-3). and the badminton, 12The women's basketball. Rugby and soccer will be plsyed today. Yachting Winner.—An American, E. Fay, has won the world 5.5 metre yachting championship for the second successive yesr.
