POLICE OFFER £500 REWARD
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 19. The Minister of Police (Mr Allen) has authorised the offering of a reward of £5OO for information leading to the recovery of the automatic weapons stolen from the Ponsonby drill hall on June 20.
The Minister has also offered an indemnity against prosecution to any accomplice giving such information provided he was not'the main offender who entered the building and stole the guns. Three 7.62 mm. self-loading rifles, six 9mm. Stirling sub-machine-guns and 12 9mm.
automatic pistols were stolen in the raid. The reward offer would remain in force until January 31, 1967, said the Minister.
If there is more than one claimant or only part of the property is recovered, the amount is to be apportioned by the Commissioner of Police.
