Weapons And War

Sir,—Man is still in a state of evolution. He has a certain amount of choice, but, by and large, like everything else, he is in the grip of eternal law. “Realist” is unrealistic in contending that international rivalry is due to unprincipled propaganda. The individual is bom proud of his race. The thought of foreign domination is hateful to him. Rulers would be quickly ousted if it was thought that they were not eager to repel the enemy. The free peoples can only remain free and immune from attack by presenting a superior front to aspiring enemies.— Yours, etc., T. M. SHAW. July 14, 1966.
