Unhappy With Govt. Service To Farmers

(N.Z. Press Association* PAEROA, July 19. “I am very unhappy with the service the rural community is getting from the Government today,” commented the chairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council, Mr H. W. Hayward, at the July meeting of the council held In Ngatca. Nobody, he said, wanted to "shoot the Government down” at the present time, but he said .that he himself was very concerned with the decisions that it had made recently. Mr Hayward was speaking to criticism by Cr. T. J. O’Dwyer, of the impositions being placed on farmers and who said that what was really wanted to represent the farming community was some very hard-headed businessmen. Councillor O’Dwyer also criticised the executive of the New Zealand Counties' Association, which he contended was not strong enough in its approaches to the Government. Other councillors expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the affairs of New Zealand were being handled and were of the opinion that a firmer stand was needed if the farming community was to get justice. One councillor remarked that it appeared that strikes

were the , only method by which a body could get the Government to listen to it, but he said that farmers were handicapped in this direction, as they could not strike because the cows kept on producing milk.
