APPEAL FAILS
Charge Of Child Rape (N.Z. Press Association) | WELLINGTON, July 18. An appeal by Albert Edwin Wilson against a sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment on a charge of child rape was dismissed by the Court of Appeal today. Wilson was found guilty on a charge of raping a 10-year-i old girl by the Supreme Court! at Napier and subsequently i sentenced by the Chief Jus-! tice, Sir Richard Wild. “The sentence is a proper one,” said Mr Justice North when he delivered the Appeal Court’s unanimous judgment. “Child rape is very serious and stands apart from ordin-! ary cases of rape,” he said. The Court comprised Mr! Justice North, Mr Justice Turner and Mr Justice Me-1 Carthy.
