Mr B. H. Childs, assistant conservator for the New Zealand Forest Service in Christchurch, has been appointed assistant general manager of the commercial division of the service’s head office in Wellington. Mr Childs joined the Forest Service as a trainee in 1945 and has been stationed in both the North and South Islands. He was senior ranger at Hokitika before coming to Christchurch in 1964.

Messrs J. W. P. Watts, of Wellington, R. R. Beaumont, of Lower Hutt, L. P. Blunt, of Kaikoura (Counties Association), and E. Somers, of Christchurch (Municipal Association), have been appointed members of the Special Town and Country Planning Appeal Board for one year. Mr Watts is chairman of the board and Mr Beaumont deputychairman. Mr L. E. Carter has been appointed to the Hanmer Springs Domain Board. Messrs G. C. Howard and D. G. B. Bateman have been appointed to the Buller Milk Board for three years. Mr B. Scott has been appointed to the Tekapo Rabbit Board. Mr G. de L. Fenwick has been appointed to the Opticians’ Board for three years. Messrs T. Kyle and P. B. Foote have been appointed Timaru members of the Farm Land Rating Assessment Court.
