DIVISION TO BE CLOSED
Four Branches Affected (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 14. The wholesale division of Ross and Glendining. Ltd., with branches in Auckland. Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, is to be closed. The chairman of the United Empire Box Company, Ltd., of Auckland (Mr J. N. C. Doig) said in his annual report to shareholders today that his company had taken over Ross and Glendining and would dispose of the warehouse division. It was impossible to say how many employees would! be affected, but adequate compensation had already been arranged for staff in the warehouse division for whom alternative employment could not be found. It was expected that numbers of employees from the wholesale division would be found employment with the company’s other operations.
