HOCKEY TOUR
N.Z. To Play At Bombay An invitation has been received by the New Zealand Hockey Association to send a team of 20 players to compete in an international hockey festival at Bombay in January next year. Other countries invited include Pakistan, which lost the Olympic title to India at Tokyo, Australia, Kenya, Spain, Britain, East Germany and West Germany. “The invitation from India has come at an opportune time,” the secretary of the New Zealand association (Mr M. R. Good) said yesterday. “The New Zealand association has been considering possible international competition to develop its national side for participation in the 1968 Olympics at Mexico City. “Past New Zealand coaches have strongly advocated visits to India for greater development of hockey skills.” A New Zealand team last visited India in 1962 when it made a short tour and competed in an international tournament at Ahmedabad.
Cricket Members.— Four new associate members have been elected to the International Cricket Conference: the Royal Dutch Cricket Association, the Danish Cricket Association, and the Bermuda and East African Cricket Conferences. There are now six full members anti seven associates. South Africa did not apply to rejoin the conference.
