Boxers To Be Busy
A busy future I* In the offing for Christchurch professional boxers, D. Murphy and L. Ny. Murphy, the former New Zealand light-weight champion, is fit for his comeback bout against the Ghanlan. K. Amarßo at Canterbury Court on July 21. If he goes well In this this bout, Murphy Is keen to box another Import from Australia and then lodge a challenge for the lightweight title, now held by M. Santos, of Auckland.
The national boxing council has approved Ny's challenge against T. George (Auckland), for the New Zealand feather - weight title. If Ny wins, he will hold both the feather and bantam-weight titles.
He will fight George In Christchurch in September, while the Australian ban-tam-weight champion, N. Kunde, of Queensland, and L. Rose, the brilliant Aborigine from Sydney, who beat him on points last year, are being lined up as other opponents for Ny.
Ny’s drawing - power soared efter his magnificent win over R. Peres on Thursday evening.
