Prams On Buses
Sir,—“Mrs Preggers” should realise that the tan on prams is only wishful thinking on the part of the lazy element on the Transport Board. Carriage of prams is a privilege enjoyed by Christchurch mothers, and I, along with other more responsible drivers, will oppose this tan. “Mrs Preggers” should also think about the drivers who leave a few minutes behind departure time for those
people who are always running late. Do not tar all drivers with the same brush!— Yours, etc., H. E. BUSH-KING. July 15, 1966. Sir, —I, too, would like to make a strong protest against the proposal to stop prams being carried on the Transport Board buses. Surely the board will not accept the weak excuses of the drivers. My friends and I are used to the nasty looks and remarks that some drivers give when they have to get off their seats to put our prams on, in good or bad weather. But think about us young mothers. We certainly do not enjoy a bus ride with youngsters but find it necessary at times, and most of us would have to do without an important item to pay taxi fares. I hope and pray the board will be with us young mothers in this matter.—Yours, etc., MOTHER OF TWO. July 14, 1966.
