NEW MAYORAL CAR ARRIVES

The new mayoral car bought for the City Council by four councillors who visited Auckland recently was delivered in Christchurch yesterday. Costing £3885, the Wack Austin Princess previously belonged to the GovernorGeneral (Sir Bernard Fergusson). K was brought to New Zealand in December, 1964, and has travelled 2741 miles. The car seats three back and front and there are two

“C&<3es" seats in the back. The front and back are separated by an electrically-operated glass partition. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) was among the first to try the car’s seating yesterday morning and commented that it was “lovely.” The car will be a replacement for the old mayoral car, a 1953 Daimler, which may be traded in on a smaller car to be used by the Mayor for less formal occasions than those requiring the new car.
