Last Post Warning
Christchurch led 8-0 after only 15 minutes, and the plaintive notes of the Last Post, intruding upon the Rugby seemed to convey a doleful warning to Christ’s College. However, it it was a warning, it was heeded, for thereafter each team scored only three more points. It was the eighth victory scored by Christchurch B.H.S. in the last nine years of their annual matches. It was not a good game. In fact, it was frequently downright poor and a nasty feature of play these days, unnecessary roughness, was seen too frequently, particularly from some of the Christchurch forwards. The teams:— C.B.H.S.— W. Lewis': L. Brown, L. Hume (replaced by R. Jones), S. Jolly; H. T. Joseph, L. G. Legge (captain); D. R. Phillipson; W. Lee; I. Henderson, ft. W. Anderson, A. Boulton, G. Smith; J. Richards, M. Bain, I. Armstrong.
Christ's Collsge.—A. E. R. Morten (replaced by C. C. Hartnell); D. D. C. Campbell, N. W. Piper, C. D. Palmer; C. J. C. Wright, R. J. Wilkin; A. T. M. Penny; H. D. Black; P. V. A. Anderson, J. H. C. Morris (captain), S. A. L. Read, R. I. K. Hart; E. J. G. Harkness, D. M. Sheard, I. T. Morten. Joseph and Jolly scored tries for C.B.H.S, and Legge kicked a penalty goal and a conversion.
