LUNAR ROBOT
Last Chance For Photos (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PASADENA (California), July 13. The moon robot, Surveyor I, which has survived searing heat and frigid cold for more more than five weeks, was expected to climax its lunar activities today with a burst of pictures of the sun’s corona. The highly successful American moon vehicle which soft-landed on June 2 was to photograph the setting sun tonight as the lunar night descended. It was believed that Surveyor’s battery would be unable to withstand its second lunar “night”, and that engineers would find the vehicle lifeless when the sun again rises over the moon’s Ocean of Storms on July 27.
