SECURITY SUPPORT

Move At R.S.A. Defeated

A motion seeking support for the activities of the Security Service because of “too much unjustified criticism of that body in the press” was defeated at a meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association.

The mover, Mr T. J. KirkBurnnand, asked iftheß.S-A. was going to let people pull the service to pieces and what effect this would have on the younger generation which perhaps was unaware of what a fifth column was?

Defence of New Zealand was one of the association’s platforms, said Mr Kirk-Burn-nand, so why shouldn’t the R.S.A. give its support to the Security Service?

Members felt it was not for the R.S.A. as a body to take action on support although individual members could if they wished.
