The New Zealand-bred Cardigan Bay, which held third place In the list of money-winning pacers had recovered from a leg injury and should be able to race again in about a month, hi® trainer, S. Dancer, said. The 10-year-old gelding puMed a suspensory ligament in his left foreleg on June 1, three days before he was scheduled to meet Bret Hanover in a 35,000-do Mar match race at Liberty Bell Park.
The pacers had scored one win each in two earlier meetings. ‘‘Cardigan Bay looks good and acts perfectly sound," Dancer said at his farm, where the pacer has been convalescing. "I Intend to give him a jog on the training track and then gradually step up his training programme. I hope to have him fit to race about the middle of August.”
