Horticultural Society Prizes Presented
The following annual prizes were presented by the president of the Canterbury Horticultural Society (Mr H. G. Gilpin) at the annual meeting of the society last evening:— Garden Club Classes. — Ellen Crozier trophy: Ham, runner-up Wairarapa. Maud Sewell Memorial trophy: Ham; runner-up, Avonside. Decorative (children). — Mrs O. M. Miller trophy: Margot Hamblett. Decorative (open).—M. Devenish Mears trophy: Miss D. L. Hooper; runner-up, Mrs W. K.. Wright. Mrs M. J. Barnett trophy: Mrs W. K. Wright; runner-up, Miss D. L. Hooper. Miss D. Feaver trophy: Miss D. L. Hooper; runner-up, Mrs L. E. Smith. Speden Memorial trophy: Mrs L. W. Ross; runner-up, Mrs R. S. Allan. Challenge trophy (open): Mrs W. K. Wright; runner-up, Mrs R. L. Lindsay. May Brownie trophy: Mrs C. C. Marsh; runner-up, Mrs H. A. Steel.
Decorative (beginners).— Canterbury Women’s Club trophy: Miss M. Wickens; runner-up, Mrs C. C. Palmer. R. K. Merton trophy: Miss M. Wickens; runner-up, Mrs T. Crampton. Challenge trophy (beginners): Mrs J. Peck; runner-up, Mrs L. E. Smith.
Fruit.—M. J. Staunton trophy: Mr M. J. Staunton; runner-up, Mr L. A Stone. Vegetables.—A. K. Firth trophy: Mr J. Christian: runner-up, Mrs M. Heap.
