Officials tn Bombay yesterday began preparing plans to evacuate the city, India’s laregst port, because of an acute water shortage caused by continued failure of monsoon rains. While Assam State In the north-east of India has had heavy floods, Bombay In the southwest has had only a few showers in the last month, and the reservoirs feeding the city are dangerously low.
