BRITAIN AND E.E.C.
Commonwealth Link Respected (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BONN, July 10. The West German Economics Minister, Mr Kurt Schmuecker, said today his Government considered Britain’s continued association with the Commonwealth necessary after she joined the Common Market. In an interview with the West German weekly, “West am Sonntag,” Mr Schmuecker said: "Not only do we respect the connexion with the Commonwealth but we even regard it as necessary. It must therefore be maintained as far as possible.” Even if Britain’s entry took some time, economic ties between the Common Market and the Commonwealth should be strengthened in the interests of a world-wide trade policy by the Common Market, he said.
Cooking For Blind.—Braille characters replace the normal figures on the thermostat of a cooker made specially for use at a centre for the blind in Malta. A chart giving cooking times and temperatures for various types of food has also been prepared by the British Royal National Institute for the Blind.— (Reuter.)
