Harrison Appeal
Donations received in Christchurch for the John Harrison Memorial Fund reached £12,950 last evening. Yesterday “The Press” received £177, making a total of £5032 since the appeal opened two weeks ago. One of the trustees received £B7 yesterday. This included £3O from A. R. Lillie, £2O from Mrs Stevenson, and £lO from M. R. Ellis. Cheques sent yesterday included £36 from the staff and pupils of the Mairehau High School, £45 from the Aranui High School staff and pupils, £25 from the Papanui High School staff and pupils, £24 6s from the Cobham Intermediate School staff and pupils, and £9 8s from the staff and pupils of the Nelson Intermediate School. Eleven guineas was received from the residents of Retreat road, £6l 12s from all ranks at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station. Wigram, and £lO each from the sergeants* mess and the No. 1 officers’ mess. Donations received by "The Press” yesterday included £5O from J. Ballantyne and Company, Ltd., £24 2s from the staff of the Christchurch Press Company, Ltd., 10 guineas from Hill, Lee, and Scott, and £lO each from N. Deans and “Inasmuch.” Earlier a cheque for £5O was received from the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd.
